Sanitary workers on strike, CDF flays govt attitude

Non-payment of salaries to sanitary workers flayed

CHITRAL: A civil society organization on Monday flayed the KP government for its callous attitude towards sanitary workers of Chitral town who have been on strike against non-payment of salaries for over four months.

Office-bearers of Chitral Development Forum (CDF) at a presser said traders and lawyers will launch a protest if the government continued not paying heed to the issue of the sanitary workers.

CDF leaders including Shah Karez Khan, Waqas Ahmed adv, Inayatullah Aseer, Liaquat Ali Khan, district bar association president Sajidullah and trader union president Bashir Ahmed Khan called upon the government to immediately pay the stuck-up salaries of the sanitation staffers

They said it was highly regrettable that the poor sanitary workers were without pay even in the fasting month and no authority concerned was serious enough to listen to their problems while they were on strike.

The president of the labor union on the occasion announced to stop work on the water supply line in the city from Monday in solidarity with the sanitary workers.–Bashir Hussain Azad
