PESHAWAR: Sonia Shamroz Khan, a grade 18 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), was on Wednesday appointed as the district police officer (DPO) of Lower Chitral.
Ms Khan belongs to Abbottabad and is the first woman police officer to become the head of a district police in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
She will replace Abdul Hayee as the DPO Lower Chitral who has been directed to report to the Central Police Office (CPO), Peshawar, according to a notification issued by the office of the inspector general of police (IGP).
Ms Khan was awaiting posting at the CPO, said the notification. Earlier, she also served as the principal of the Police Training Centre in Mansehra.
