Contractors seek probe against official for alleged corrupt practices
CHITRAL: A group of government contractors on Friday alleged that the tehsil officer infrastructure (TOI) Chitral was involved in corrupt practices including asking for bribe and misbehaving with them.
Speaking at a press conference, representatives of Contractors Association of Chitral, including Javed Akhter, Taj Rasul, Rehmat Ayaz, Fazle Hadi, Saifur Rehman, Ehsanullah, Shafiqur Rehman, Sohail Ahmed and Jehanzeb, said TOI Noor Nawaz was openly asked for bribe before signing any document.
They alleged that Mr Nawaz blackmail the contractors and if anyone refuses to oblige him he threatens to blacklist him.
They said the TOI also threatens the contractors that no one could take action against him as he was close to the adviser to the chief minister on local governments.
They said the TOI also put different signatures on papers and later refuse to own them and start blackmailing the contractors. They said his signatures had already been sent to a laboratory for verification which was a proof of his corrupt practices.
They said the TOI also used similar tactics in Booni where former a tehil nazim beat him up for his misbehaviour after which he is not visiting the Booni office.
They said the government should order an inquiry against the TOI otherwise the contractors would be compelled to go on strike both in Lower and Upper Chitral.–Bashir Hussain Azad
