PTI govt not interested in development of Chitral: ex-MNA

CHITRAL: By not allocating funds for mega projects approved by the previous PML-N government the PTI regime has proved that it is not interested in development of Chitral.

This was stated by former MNA Shahzada Iftikharuddin while talking to ChitralToday correspondent on Friday.

He said the construction of the roads to tourist resorts of Garam Chashma and Kalash valleys and installation of gas plants in different areas of Chitral were at an advance stage when the tenure of the PML-N government expired in 2018.

The previous government had launched a number of mega projects worth Rs90 billion in Chitral.

He said around Rs62 billion were spent on the completion of the Lowari tunnel and the Golen Gol hydro power projects.

Mr Iftikhar said the remaining amount was to be utilized on laying of transmission lines from Golen Gol, installation of the gas plants and construction of the roads.

But it is very disappointing that even after purchase of land for the gas plants work on the project has not been initiated, he added.

He regretted that after coming to power the PTI government ignored Chitral where no development activities were being carried out.

This is only because the PTI government is openly discriminating against the backward valley while the local people used their votes without considering who could work better for resolution of their issues.

On the other hand, some parties grabbed votes by using the religious card and left the voters in the lurch after winning the polls.

Mr Iftikhar said he would continue working for the development of Chitral and get all the mega projects initiated by him completed at any cost.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
