Lawyer in Chitral gets life term for killing boy
CHITRAL, March 31: The district and sessions judge of Chitral awarded life term to a local lawyer in the murder case of a boy who was killed ago in a mosque in Barenis village about one and a half year back. The prosecution proved before the court that lawyer Mominur Rahman of Barenis village had stabbed to death Tariq Mehmood over a minor dispute and injured Khalilur Rahman about an hour before Iftari. Cases had also been registered against the father and two brothers of the convict as co-accused but they were absolved of the charges due to the lack of evidence. The court also fined the lawyer 100,000 rupees and in case the convict failed to make the payment, he will have to undergo rigorous imprisonment of six more months. He was also fined Rs10,000 for injuring Khalilur Rahman. As the convict had also sustained injuries during the bloody fight and been admitted to hospital, it became a mitigating factor and caused to reduce his capital punishment to life term. The case was heard in the court for 20 months during which Ayaz Zareen appeared on behalf of the prosecution while Waqas Ahmed advocate represented the defendant.–Zahiruddin ]]>
