PTI leader Fardad Ali Shah: A profile

CHITRAL, March 24: Fardad Ali Shah is the favourite contender for the National Assembly (NA-32) seat of Chitral on the platform of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI). FARDADFardad Ali Shah was born in Chitral on July 20, 1953. He received his early education at St Joseph’s Convent Kohat and did FSc from Govt College Lahore before joining Pakaistan Air Force as a GD (pilot) in 1970. Mr Shah qualified from Fighter Leaders School, Flying Instructors School and did MSc honours from the Joint Services Staff College. He served as a fighter pilot, commanded flying traing wing PAF Academy, and served as flying instructor in the Algerian Air Force on deputation from the PAF. After voluntary early retirement from the PAF in 1993, Mr Shah started social service and also published Urdu Weekly ‘Hindukush’. Later, he launched and established the ‘All Pensioners Association’ in 1995 which has been serving thousands of pensioners. The association, under his guidance, also took up collective issues of Chitral like the modification of the Lowari Rail Tunnel to a road tunnel, establishment of a helicopter service between Dir and Drosh in 1995, and commencement of the Islamabad-Chitral PIA service. He always raised voice for the collective benefit of the people, whether it was Lowari tunnel mismanagement, electricity problem of Chitral town, voice against corrupt practices in government departments, or injustice to the weak and helpless by the mighty and powerful. Mr Shah also contested elections twice as a truly independent candidate without the help of any party, group or mafia and performed impressively on both the occasions.  ]]>
