CHITRAL: Clearance and restoration work is continuing on the Garam Chashma and Madaklasht roads after recent flash floods damaged the key arteries at different points.
On the directions of Lower Chitral Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azim, the National Highway Authority (NHA) was supervising clearance operations and the construction and restoration of protection walls along the Garam Chashma Road, according to the district administration.
Teams remain deployed at the site to remove obstacles and carry out necessary restoration work, with efforts underway to complete the work at a faster pace and maintain safe traffic movement.
Meanwhile, the Communications & Works (C&W) Department is conducting a road clearance operation on the Madaklasht Road. Machinery has been deployed to remove debris and restore normal movement along the route.
Officials said field teams are working continuously to clear affected sections and restore road connectivity as quickly as possible.
The ongoing operations are part of the district administration’s efforts to maintain road access and ensure the safety of commuters during rains.
Meanwhile, the district administration of Upper Chitral said that the Chitral-Mastuj road blocked by river erosion at Karak in Kuragh had been reopened.
