ISLAMABAD: The federal government has begun implementing the Defined Contribution Pension Fund Scheme 2024, introducing a new pension system for government employees.
The government has issued rules for the scheme and directed all ministries, divisions and departments to begin implementation.
Under the new system, relevant employees will be identified and their records and supporting documents updated with the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR) within 15 days.
Each ministry and division has also been asked to appoint a Grade 17 or above officer as a focal person to oversee matters related to the pension fund scheme.
The Ministry of Finance’s HR Wing will monitor implementation, while the Controller General of Accounts will work with AGPR to compile comprehensive employee data.
The data will be organised according to ministry, division, department and pay grade to ensure proper implementation of the new pension system.
The government has directed all concerned institutions to complete the required process within the prescribed timeframe.
