CHUINJ: Mothers of students at the Government Girls Primary School in Chuinj have protested against a shortage of teachers, saying the school has been facing the issue for the past two years.
The protesting mothers said their children’s education was being seriously affected due to the lack of teaching staff. They questioned how students could receive education when the school did not have teachers.
An elderly mother, who is herself uneducated, led the protest and made an emotional appeal for teachers to be appointed. She said that although she could not read or write herself, she understood the importance of education and did not want her children to face the same deprivation.
Other mothers and parents joined the protest and said they had waited patiently for two years for the authorities to resolve the issue. They warned that continued inaction would further jeopardise the future of the children.
The parents have given the Upper Chitral Education Department a three-day ultimatum to provide the required teachers. They warned that if their demand is not addressed, they may be forced to take further action, including closing the school.
The parents appealed to the education authorities to take immediate notice of the situation and ensure the appointment of teachers at the earliest.
“Give us teachers, save the school and protect our children’s future,” the protesting mothers said.
