BOONI: Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Suriya Bibi has inaugurated the construction, blacktopping and widening project of the Mulkhow-Terich Road, fulfilling a longstanding demand of local residents.
The project is being executed through the Communication and Works (C&W) Division Chitral with funds secured through the efforts of the Deputy Speaker.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Suriya Bibi said improved road infrastructure was a basic necessity for the people of Upper Chitral and essential for the region’s development.
She said quality roads would improve access to healthcare and education while promoting trade, tourism and other economic activities in the remote area.
The Deputy Speaker said efforts were underway to connect remote communities with major roads and reduce travel difficulties.
She said the Mulkhow-Terich Road would provide better connectivity to residents and contribute to the socioeconomic development of the area.
Suriya Bibi directed the concerned authorities to ensure quality and transparency in the construction work and complete the project within the stipulated timeframe so that people could benefit from it as soon as possible.
Road connectivity has remained a longstanding concern for residents of Mulkhow and Terich, particularly because of the difficult mountainous terrain and seasonal damage. The improvement of the road is expected to facilitate travel and improve access to essential services for communities in the area.
Local residents welcomed the launch of the project and expressed hope that timely completion of the road would bring lasting improvements to connectivity and economic activity in Upper Chitral.
