ISLAMABAD, 28 July: In a landmark achievement for the Chitrali community, Islamabad Police promoted Fazal Khaliq to the rank of inspector (BPS-16), making him the first police officer from Chitral in the history of the federal capital’s police force to attain the rank.
Khaliq joined Islamabad Police in 2005 as an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and has steadily risen through the ranks through what colleagues describe as an outstanding record of professional policing and public service.
Following his promotion in 2019, he served as Station House Officer (SHO) at a number of police stations across the federal capital.
In a relatively short period, he has headed nine police stations, including Karachi Company, Golra, Koral, Shahzad Town, Bhara Kahu, Sangjani and Ramna Police Station, where he is currently posted.
Widely regarded as one of Islamabad Police’s most capable field officers, Inspector Khaliq has earned a reputation for effective community policing, criminal investigation, law and order management, and counter-terrorism operations. Senior police officers regard him as one of the force’s top-performing SHOs.
He has also completed specialised training, including the National Counter Terrorism Course, further strengthening his expertise in policing and security operations.
A native of Rayeen village in Torkhow, Upper Chitral, Khaliq holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Peshawar.
Members of the Chitrali community living in Islamabad welcomed his promotion, describing it as a proud milestone for the region.
They praised him for remaining accessible to people in need while maintaining a strong record in tackling crime and delivering professional policing.
His elevation to the rank of inspector is being viewed as both a personal achievement and a historic moment for Chitral’s representation in Islamabad Police.
