Peshawar, July 27, 2026: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has restrained authorities from deporting a petitioner named Quaid-i-Azam and directed him to appear before NADRA’s verification board over the blocking of his national identity card.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmed and Justice Inamullah Khan heard the petition challenging the suspension of the petitioner’s Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC).
Counsel for the petitioner, Advocate Saifullah Mohib Kakakhel, told the court that his client, who conducts business in both Pakistan and Dubai, is a Pakistani citizen and a regular taxpayer. He argued that the blocking of the CNIC had caused serious hardship and disrupted his business activities.
The lawyer further submitted that Nadra had asked the petitioner to produce his uncle before the verification board, despite other members of his family possessing valid Pakistani identity cards.
Representing Nadra, Assistant Director Legal Shahid Imran Gigiyani informed the court that the authority had already submitted its response. He said the petitioner’s identity card had been blocked after it was flagged as suspicious during the verification process.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court directed the petitioner to appear before Nadra’s verification board and ordered that no deportation action be taken against him until the verification process is completed.
