Kabul/Baghlan, July 26, 2026: The anti-Taliban armed group, Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks against Taliban forces in northern Afghanistan.
The group said its fighters targeted a military convoy and later killed several Taliban commanders in separate clashes. According to a statement released by the Afghanistan Freedom Front, its fighters launched a rocket attack on a Taliban military convoy in Dushi district of Baghlan province.
The group said the convoy was transporting additional personnel and military equipment from Kabul to Badakhshan province. The AFF claimed that seven Taliban fighters were killed and six others wounded in the attack, adding that none of its own fighters were injured.
In a separate statement, the resistance group said Taliban forces also suffered heavy casualties in Zebak district of Badakhshan during clashes over the past two days.
The AFF claimed that four Taliban commanders were killed, including Mullah Shadab, commander of the Zebak unit, as well as Maulvi Gul Ahmadi, Mullah Faridullah, and Qari Omari Lazari, who were reportedly leading border security companies in the district.
The casualty figures and operational claims have been made by the Afghanistan Freedom Front. So far, there has been no independent verification of the claims and the Taliban authorities have not publicly commented on the reported attacks.
