Chitral, July 7, 2026: Senior School Teachers (SSTs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have urged the provincial government to immediately convene the long-pending Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and grant promotions to eligible teachers, warning of a province-wide protest if their demands are not met.
In a written appeal addressed to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the teachers said that SSTs eligible for promotion, including those who have completed 10 years of service, have been awaiting their final DPC for years, adversely affecting the promotion process within the cadre.
The teachers claimed that although notifications for the DPC of SSTs and Secondary School (SS) teachers were issued on March 30, 2026, the promotion process has remained stalled, allegedly due to the involvement of a few individuals in the Education Directorate.
They appealed to the Secretary Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Additional Secretary Education to take immediate notice of the issue and ensure that the pending promotions are processed without further delay.
The teachers warned that if the matter is not resolved, SSTs from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will assemble at the Education Directorate in Peshawar on July 6 to stage a protest demonstration.
