Chitral, July 4, 2026: Newly appointed District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Resham Jahangir officially assumed charge of her office.
She pledged strict enforcement of the law and a zero-tolerance policy against crime.
Soon after taking office, the DPO said there would be no compromise on the rule of law in Lower Chitral. She announced that indiscriminate and firm action would be taken against criminals, drug traffickers and anyone involved in disrupting peace and public order.
She stressed that there was no place for lawbreakers in the district and reaffirmed that protecting the lives and property of citizens would remain the police’s top priority.
Ms Jahangir said the police force would perform its duties with honesty, merit, and professionalism while ensuring prompt justice and improved policing services.
She added that any negligence in maintaining law and order would not be tolerated.
The DPO also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police, saying that joint efforts between law enforcement and the community were essential to making Lower Chitral a peaceful, safe, and drug-free district.
It may be mentioned that Ms Jehangir is the second female police chief of Lower Chitral after Sonia Shamroz, who had the honor of being the first DPO in KP. She remained posted to Lower Chitral from 2020 to 2022.
