Ziarat, July 7, 2026: At least nine police personnel, including two Station House Officers (SHOs), were martyred after terrorists attacked a police contingent in the Kuch Mangi Phase III area of Ziarat district, officials said on Tuesday.
According to Ziarat SP Qadoos Dawar, an exchange of fire between the attackers and police had been ongoing since the previous night. The bodies of the martyred personnel were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Ziarat.
The slain officers were identified as SHO Mangi Muhammad Hussain and SHO Kowas Sohbat Khan, along with seven other police personnel.
Meanwhile, residents blocked the national highway in Pishin district to protest the alleged abduction of more than 20 people, including police personnel, from the under-construction Mangi Dam water tank site.
Protesters claimed that unidentified armed men abducted the victims, who had been deployed at the construction site. They said five of the abductees managed to escape from captivity.
The demonstrators demanded the immediate recovery of all those still missing. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the reported abductions.
