Brep, July 2, 2026: A woman died and her husband was injured critically after they were fired upon by an unknown person in Brep on Wednesday night.
Local residents told ChitraToday that Mr Azam, 45, a resident of Jimlasht and a retired paramilitary personnel, was returning home from Jamat Khana on foot along with his father and wife on Wednesday night when they were fired upon by someone hiding in an agricultural field along the main Yarkhun road.
The father of Azam remained unhurt. The injured couple was taken to a medical center in Brep where the woman died. Her husband was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital Chitral where he was stated to be out of danger.
The relatives of the victims said that the family had no enmity with anyone.
Police have launched an investigation to trace the culprits.
Three Serious Criminal Incidents Reported in Upper Chitral
It may be mentioned here that within the last a few days three serious criminal incidents have already been reported in Upper Chitral.
In the first incident, two men were accused of sexually assaulting another male after allegedly intoxicating him.
In a separate incident, police arrested a non-local man accused of assaulting and threatening a 10-year-old girl.
In another incident, a driver was seriously injured in a knife attack following an argument with another driver in Booni.
