PM Praises Prince Rahim’s Commitment to Peace and Development

Islamabad, May 21, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded the commitment of Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to promoting peace, stability, and constructive engagement with governments and international partners.

The prime minister expressed these views during a breakfast meeting held in honour of Prince Rahim on the occasion of his first official visit to Pakistan. He warmly welcomed the dignitary and reaffirmed Pakistan’s shared commitment to peace and development.

Highlighting the longstanding partnership with the Aga Khan Development Network, the prime minister commended its contributions in key sectors including rural development, healthcare, education, disaster resilience, climate adaptation, renewable energy, digital skills training, and youth entrepreneurship.

He particularly appreciated the network’s impactful work in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, especially in remote and vulnerable communities, and encouraged further expansion of its initiatives in these regions.

The prime minister also acknowledged the role of Aga Khan University in advancing healthcare and higher education in Pakistan.

Recognizing Prince Rahim’s advocacy for environmental stewardship, he emphasized that the Aga Khan Development Network remains a trusted partner in Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen climate resilience, particularly in glacially vulnerable northern areas.

He thanked Prince Rahim for visiting Pakistan and expressed hope that his regular visits would further strengthen the longstanding ties between Pakistan and the Ismaili community. He also extended condolences on the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, paying tribute to his enduring humanitarian legacy.

During the meeting, the prime minister presented a commemorative stamp issued by Pakistan Post in honour of the late Aga Khan IV for his services to the country.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, in his remarks, thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome and expressed his desire to continue cooperation with Pakistan in various human development initiatives.
