Chitral, April 24, 2026: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) Circuit Bench will conduct hearings in Chitral from April 27 to April 30, 2026, where a number of civil, criminal, and other cases have been fixed for proceedings.
According to details, the bench will be headed by Justice Dr. Khurshid Iqbal, who will preside over the single bench hearings during the four-day sitting. A formal cause list has been issued, confirming that dozens of cases will be taken up as per schedule.
In addition, cases already fixed before the Swat Bench of the Peshawar High Court will also be heard through a virtual system via district court video link. This facility has been introduced to ensure continuity of hearings and to facilitate litigants.
Welcoming the development, Chitral Bar Association President Mominur Rehman Advocate termed the circuit bench a significant and positive step.
He said the initiative will provide much-needed relief to both lawyers and litigants, who previously had to travel to Swat for case hearings, causing financial burden and inconvenience.
He further stated that the establishment of the circuit bench will enable access to justice at the local level, saving both time and expenses for the people of Chitral.
He urged lawyers and litigants to ensure their presence on the scheduled dates to make the initiative successful.
Mominur Rehman Advocate also cautioned that failure to fully utilize this opportunity could affect the continuation of such facilities in the future. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in making the circuit bench effective.
It is worth mentioning that the establishment of the circuit bench in Chitral is the result of persistent efforts by the Chitral Bar Association president Mominur Rehman Advocate, which has been widely appreciated by local residents.
People of the area believe this step will strengthen the justice system and reduce the need for long-distance travel for court cases.
