Trump's Special Envoy on Middle East Steve Witkoff to lead US side in Islamabad talks with Iran.

US Team Due in Islamabad for Second Round of Talks with Iran

Islamabad, April 19, 2026: US President Donald Trump has confirmed that his Middle East envoy will travel to Pakistan to resume high-stakes negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing Iran conflict.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said that Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is scheduled to depart Sunday night and arrive in Islamabad on Monday, where he will take part in a second round of peace talks expected to begin on Tuesday.

The US president further disclosed that Jared Kushner — who previously played a central role in key Middle East diplomatic initiatives — will also be involved in the upcoming discussions, signaling Washington’s intent to bring experienced negotiators into the process.

It may be mentioned here that Trump this time did not indicate the participation of Vice President JD Vance who led the US side in the first round of Islamabad talks from April 11 to 12. However, later it emerged that Vance is also coming to Pakistan.

The visit comes amid intensified diplomatic activity and follows earlier rounds of engagement, with Pakistan increasingly positioned as a key venue for dialogue between Washington and Tehran as efforts continue to de-escalate tensions and work toward a negotiated settlement in the region.
