Chitral, April 14, 2026: Security guards working across 104 villages for Telenor have raised serious concerns over extremely low wages, urging the prime minister to intervene and ensure justice regarding their salaries.
The guards, who provide security services for Telenor Pakistan infrastructure in remote areas, held a press conference at the Chitral Press Club, where they expressed strong resentment over what they described as unfair and exploitative working conditions.
Speaking at the event, former Union Nazim Sher Azam Khan, Amiruddin, Qari Nazirullah, Rahim Khan, Sher Muhammad, Nadir Khan, Fazal Ghani and others said that they are being paid only Rs7,000 per month, which they termed “unacceptable and insulting” in the current inflationary environment.
The workers added that the government’s minimum wage is officially set at Rs40,000, yet they are being denied this legal entitlement despite serving in the field for nearly 15 years. They stated that during this long period, their salary has not increased even once.
The guards also alleged that their responsibilities extend beyond basic security duties, claiming they are frequently assigned additional operational tasks to keep telecom towers functioning in remote and difficult terrain.
They demanded immediate action from the prime minister and relevant authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that their salaries are revised in accordance with the legally mandated minimum wage, enabling them to properly support their families.
The guards also issued a 15-day ultimatum to the company, warning of further action if their demands are not addressed.
