Chilas, April 13, 2026: At least three police personnel were martyred and several others, including a senior officer, were injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police team in Chilas on Monday.
According to police officials, the incident took place in the Thor Goein area when the police team was conducting an operation to destroy opium crops. During the operation, unknown assailants suddenly opened fire, resulting in heavy casualties.
Authorities confirmed that three personnel were martyred in the attack, while Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Faqir Muhammad and several other officers sustained injuries. The wounded were shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Following the incident, rescue teams and a heavy contingent of security forces were dispatched to the area, where tensions remain high. Police officials stated that the bodies of the martyrs and the injured had been shifted to the hospital.
A search operation has been launched to track down the attackers, however, so far no arrest has been made.
