Reshun, April 10, 2026: A protest rally held at Ramdasi Chowk in Reshun against the excessive increase in electricity bills with demonstrators giving the government a one-month deadline to address the issue.
The residents have been protesting for the past three months, saying that electricity bills have surged abnormally after the Reshun powerhouse was transferred from PEDO to PESCO.
The protest today was presided over by Syed Sardar Hussain Shah.Other speakers included Haji Abdul Rehman, Chairman Ashfaq, Village Councillor Wazir Muhammad, Principal Sahib Rehman, Chairman Village Council Charun Inayatullah, and Jamaat-e-Islami Upper Chitral leader Ashfaq Ahmad, among others.
The speakers criticized the relevant department of PEDO and expressed serious concern over what they termed the inappropriate attitude of the district administration.
They warned that if the issues were not resolved immediately, the scope of the protest would be expanded further.
