KP Announces New Merit Criteria for Doctors’ Recruitment

Peshawar, April 10, 2026: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued a new merit criteria for the recruitment of doctors.
According to a notification released by the provincial health department, 60 percent weightage will be given to academic marks in the recruitment process.
The notification states that candidates will receive an additional 20 percent marks for higher education, while 20 percent marks have been allocated for the interview, making the total score 100.
In addition, a new grading system has been introduced to ensure greater transparency in the merit process, under which marks will be further divided according to first, second, and third division degrees.
According to the notification, candidates will be awarded 10, 15, and 20 marks for holding one, two, and three additional degrees respectively.
The newly announced merit criteria for doctors’ recruitment will come into effect immediately.
