Drosh, Dept 28, 2025: Chitral celebrated its biggest and most renowned sports event on Saturday as the “Maraka-e-Haq Chitral Football League Season 5” concluded with a colorful and spectacular closing ceremony.
Ideal Club Drosh organized the tournament in collaboration with Chitral Scouts, while the District Administration and the District Sports Office provided strong support. Inspector General Frontier Corps Major General Rao Imran Sartaj attended as the chief guest and honored the ceremony with his presence.
Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Shahid Aslam, Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Rao Hashim Azim, and Wing Commander 143 Wing Drosh Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Abbas also joined the distinguished gathering.
In the final, KRL Islamabad and Chitral Markhor battled in a thrilling contest. Chitral Markhor scored first and led the opening half. KRL Islamabad fought back in the second half and equalized, forcing the game into a dramatic penalty shootout.
With nerves of steel, KRL Islamabad prevailed and lifted the championship trophy.After the match, Major General Rao Imran Sartaj personally distributed prizes among the players and announced special cash rewards for both finalist teams as well as the organizing committee.
The Talha Mehmood Foundation strengthened the celebrations by awarding Rs. 300,000 to the champions and Rs. 150,000 to the runners-up.
The Chitral Football League honors the historic “Maraka-e-Haq” victory against Indian aggression and symbolizes Pakistan’s proud defense heritage.
This year, twelve prominent teams from across Pakistan competed for glory. National outfits included KRL Islamabad, Afghan TV Peshawar, Pakistan Police Quetta, KP Police, GAPCO WAPDA from Punjab, Asifa Bhutto Football Academy from Mirpurkhas in Sindh, and Hajira United FC from Azad Kashmir.
Local clubs – Chitral Markhor, Chitral Sarkar, HQ Jughur FC, Lyger FC, and Torkhow Sheersham – added their strength to the competition.
The Chitral Football League has built a reputation as one of Pakistan’s premier football tournaments. Chitral Falcon won Season 1 by defeating Pakistan Army. Pakistan Army captured Season 2 by overcoming SA Gardens Lahore. Chitral Sarkar claimed Season 3 by defeating Morkhow Highlander, and Afghan TV Peshawar lifted the Season 4 title by beating Bacha Khan FC Loralai. With Season 5, KRL Islamabad proudly joins this legacy of champions.
Chief Organizer Kamal Abdul Jamil thanked Chitral Scouts, District Administration, Chitral Police, District Sports Office, Talha Mehmood Foundation, and all other institutions that supported the event. He also praised the participating clubs for their sportsmanship and their role in making the tournament a resounding success.
