Onshot is a small village, the first settlement of Laspur, comprising 26 houses. It is situated about five to six kilometers from Mastuj. The village is connected to Mastuj via the single road which serves as the lifeline for the residents of Yarkhoon and Laspur.
In the recent heavy snowfall, this vital road has blocked due to sliding and destructive avalanches at various points. As a result, the people of Onshot find themselves completely isolated from Mastuj, leading to shortage of essential commodities and medicine.
Additionally, numerous school-going children rely on this road which has now been inaccessible for a week. With schools set to reopen tomorrow, traversing this route poses a significant risk to life.
It\’s worth noting that in the recent elections, Onshot residents openly supported candidates from the PTI, contributing to the party\’s success. Despite this, they have been overlooked and neglected.
In light of these circumstances, the residents have requested the elected members of Upper Chitral and other relevant departments to prioritize the clearance and reopening of the road from Onshot to the Kuno Bridge. Sending a bulldozer or tractor to the area to clear the road would greatly alleviate the hardships faced by the people of Onshot and restore normalcy to their lives.
