KP Govt Approves Funds for Education Reforms

Peshawar, April 20, 2026: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved major education sector reforms, including a Rs. 500 million allocation for an Interdisciplinary Research Centre.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi. The meeting reviewed ongoing education reforms and approved new policy measures aimed at improving literacy rates, access to education, and the overall quality of learning across the province.

Major Education Reforms Approved in KP

According to official details, the provincial government has planned a series of reforms to strengthen the education sector. These include the establishment of community schools in remote and underserved areas, expansion of the double-shift school system, and improved infrastructure to increase student enrollment.

The Chief Minister also directed the introduction of Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses in schools and colleges, highlighting the importance of preparing students for modern digital and technological demands.

Focus on Research, Digital Learning

The approved Rs. 500 million Interdisciplinary Research Centre is expected to promote advanced academic research and innovation in the province.

Officials said the project will help strengthen higher education and encourage collaboration across multiple academic fields.

Coordination Committee to Oversee Implementation

The Chief Minister directed the formation of a dedicated coordination committee comprising relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of reforms and timely follow-up on all approved initiatives.
High-Level Attendance

The meeting was attended by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, Provincial Minister for Education Arshad Ayub, senior education department officials, and education experts.
