Booni, Mar h 31, 2026: The body of an unidentified woman was recovered from the river near Parpish in Upper Chitral today.
The operation to retrieve the body was carried out by Rescue 1122 after being alerted by local people.
According to local sources, the identity of the woman was not determined immediately. Rescue officials transferred the body to the government hospital in Booni for the necessary legal and medical procedures, as well as to facilitate proper identification.
Later, it transpired that the woman belonged to Lon village. The police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the incident. The police would determine whether it was a suicide.
Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased woman protested after being told that the Category D hospital had no facility to conduct postmortem on the body and asked them to take it to the District Headquarters Hospital Lower Chitral.
