Peshawar, March 31, 2026: Upper Chitral is set to witness a major boost in educational infrastructure thanks to the special efforts of Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Suriya Bibi.
A total of 27 government schools in the remote district have now been upgraded under the Double Shift System (DSS).
The deputy speaker held a meeting with Minister of Education Arshad Ayub Khan, and the secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education, where they discussed in detail the educational challenges in Upper Chitral, school upgradation plans, and other related matters.
The schools upgraded under DSS include GGCMS Warijun, GGPS Madak, GGPS Muzhgram Melp, GGPS Morder, GGPS Pakhturi Owir, GHS Gohkir, GPS Dewsar, GHS Lasht Yarkhoon, GMS Awi, GMS Parwak, GMS Kosht Bala, GPS Chilmarabad, GPS Garum Chashma, GPS Power, GPS Miragram 2, GPS Marting, GPS Zait, GPS Raman, GPS Madak Bala, GGHS Awi, GGPS Sorelaspur, GGPS Khuzh, GGPS Rech Ragh, GGPS Bulasht Rech, GPS Shust, GPS Unawuch, and GHS Kosht.
In the coming weeks, the recruitment and posting of teachers in these schools will also begin, further strengthening the educational system.
This initiative is seen as a significant step toward improving educational facilities in the region and providing quality education to students within their own communities.
