Chitral, Nov 12, 2025: The Lower Chitral Police have arrested the driver involved in a traffic accident that claimed the life of a young student in front of the Government Degree College for Boys Chitral on Nov 11, 2025.
A statement issued by the police today said that District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Iftikhar Shah took immediate notice of the incident and directed relevant officers to identify and apprehend the person responsible for the accident.
According to the FIR available with ChitralToday, the case has been registered against the errant driver Dr Noorul Islam under section 320 (Qatl-i-khata by rash or negligent driving) 337-G (causing severe injury to a person’s body parts with the intent to hurt them or with the knowledge that it is likely to cause hurt) and 427 (mischief that causes a loss or damage of at least fifty rupees) of Pakistan Penal Code.
SHO City Police Station Chitral Inspector Ali Ahmed along with his team arrested the driver, Dr. Noorul Islam, a resident of Terich living in Singoor.
The FIR against the doctor was registered on the complaint of a taxi driver. It said that on November 11, the taxi driver submitted a written report stating that he was taking passengers in his Ghogai vehicle to their destinations when a recklessly driven white car (B-1654 CL) knocked down a young man standing on the roadside in front of him along with a bike rider on the road from the opposite direction in front of Degree College for Boys Chitral. The car also hit the taxi and damaged it.
The complainant said that he shifted the two injured to hospital in his taxi. One of the injured identified as Taimur, resident of Morder and a BS student of the Degree College died in the hospital, while the other, Shahbaz Masih, was admitted with multiple injuries.
