Founder of banned outfit dies in blast
PESHAWAR: An improvised explosive device (IED) blast took place outside a mosque in the limits of the Urmur police station in Peshawar before Iftar in which four people, including Mufti Munir Shakir, were injured.
According to the police, the explosion partially damaged the wall of the mosque and the injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.
According to a spokesperson for the hospital, Mufti Munir Shakir, the founder of the outlawed Lashkar-e-Islam, was brought to the hospital in a critical condition where he died. Three of the injured were undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the blast outside the mosque and sought a report from the police authorities.
