Ursun residents want exploration of minerals

CHITRAL: Residents of Banjal area of Ursun valley in Lower Chitral have demanded that leaseholders should be issued no-objection certificates (NOCs for exploration of minerals in their area.

Addressing a press conference here, the Molana Sami Ullah, Muhammad Hakim, Muhammad Ghafoor and Abdus Samad said exploitation of the mineral resources would bring prosperity and development and create job opportunities for the locals.

They said that there was no issue of law and order situation for companies to carry out exploration of the minerals which were found in abundance in the area.

They also said that the leaseholders had already signed an agreement with the local communities under which they would open a dispensary along with an ambulance along with the construction of a school building. 

Keeping in view the backwardness of the area, the government and security forces should issue NOCs to the leaseholders for start of work, they said, adding the locals were ready to extend all possible cooperation for the activity.–Bashir Hussain Azad
