Ex-PMG Sardar Ali passes away

PESHAWAR: Retired postmaster general (PMG) Khyber Pakthunkhwa Sardar Ali Sardar Aman passed away at a hospital in Peshawar on Saturday morning at the age of 91.

He is survived by his sons Imtiaz Ali, Javed Ali and three daughters. 

The dead body of of the late PMG is being taken to Booni where it will be laid to rest on Sunday, family sources told ChitralToday.

Sardar Ali Sardar Aman was born in Booni and sent to Bombay in 1944, where he acquired education till matriculation and returned in 1952 and started teaching in his hometown.

After a few years, he shifted to Karachi for higher education and obtained an MA degree in economics from the University of Karachi. He joined tbe civil service after passing the Central Superior Services (CSS) exam in 1961.

During his career, he was posted in different parts of the country, including Islamabad and Quetta, and retired as the PMG Khyber Pakthunkhwa. 

PMG Sardar Ali Sardar Aman during his illustrious career established post offices across Chitral and provided employments in the department not only inside the valley but also in Karachi and Peshawar to hundreds Chitrali youth.

After retirement in 1995, he mostly lived in Peshawar but visited Booni in every summer. He last visited his hometown in 2022.

He also took part in the general elections of 2002 for the National Assembly seat of Chitral on the ticket of the PPP. 

For the last a few months, he had been in poor health and was hospitalized about a week ago.
