Six Afghans held for illegal entry in Chitral
CHITRAL: Six Afghan nationals have been arrested by the police for illegally entering Pakistan through the border along the Osiak area of Lower Chitral.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Sonia Shamroz Khan, the six Afghans were rounded up from Osiak, Jinjiret and Khairabad with the help of intelligence agencies.
They had entered the country from the Osiak border and were staying in these nearby village illegally.
The arrested Afghan nationals have been identified as Syed Nabi, Ajab Khan, Muhammad Hashim, Shereay and Sher Ahmed.
The DPO said the police were keeping a close eye on movement of people from Afghanistan in order to check any chance of terrorism in the district.
She said strict action would be taken against anyone found sheltering any illegal Afghan immigrant.
It may be noted that a few days ago, armed men in a vehicle opened fire at a check post in Osiak, killing one policeman and injuring three others.
The police on Thursday said the mastermind of the attack had been arrested and search was ongoing to trace his accomplices.
