Govt urged to help family of deceased polio worker
BOONI: Local people have called upon the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to extend all-out support to the children of a lady health worker who died in the line of duty on March 1.
Shisha Bibi died of a heart attack while performing duty during the anti-polio drive. She is survived by five daughters and her husband.
Ms Shisha Bibi, wife of Shamsur Rehman of Khorandok Awi, was unwell when the polio drive started but she did not take rest and joined the campaign against the crippling disease.
The staff of the health department held Fateha Khwani for the deceased while District Health Officer Upper Chitral Dr Irshad Ahmed visited the family and condoled the death.
The local residents said the health department and the KP government should extend assistance to the family in this difficult time.
Ms Shisha Bibi was to retire from the health department within a year.–Sher Afgan Raza
