Villagers appeal to save their properties from flooding in Dizg Gol
YARKHUN: With a slight increase in temperature, the volume of water in Dizg Gol has started increasing and damaging crops, fruit trees and houses of the people of Khruzg village.
A visit to the village by ChitralToday correspondent showed local people, including women and children, trying to ward off the floodwater to save their properties.
Maina Khan, a local resident, told ChitralToday that every year in the summer they face losses from flooding in the nullah.
Floods in Dizg Gol have already washed away a number of houses along with valuables besides burying land of the people during the last a few years.
He said the KP government had sanctioned funds to dredge the nullah and a survey was also conducted but so far work has not been started.
Mr Khan and other locals said the government should remove the flood debris and construct protection walls along the stream to protect both Dizg and Khruzg villages.
They also appealed to the district administration of Upper Chitral and NGOs to help them in protecting their lives and properties against frequent floods in Dizg Gol.
