ISLAMABAD: Minister for Communications Murad Saeed on Thursday said the National Highway Authority (NHA) has sent a revised PC-1 of the approach roads of Lowari tunnel to the Planning Commission after its approval, APP reported.
Replying to a calling attention notice raised by Molana Abdul Akbar in the National Assembly about the suspension of the construction work on the approach roads of the tunnel in the Chitral side, the minister said a special audit of the project was conducted as it was launched in 2003 but could not be completed even after 17 years.
He said the cost of the project has witnessed 336 per cent escalation due to the extraordinary delay. Work on the project would be resumed soon after the approval of revised PC-1 by the Planning Commission.
The minister said construction of the 153 km Chitral to Shandur road would be started this month while work on Chitral-Garam Chashma would be launched after Eidul Fitr.
Our MNA is only happy that he raises a question in the Assembly. He never pursues the case. This time also the Minister has given a lollipop and we have taken it as usual.
