KABUL: The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed that its fighters captured several Taliban positions during clashes in Nuristan and Kunar provinces bordering Chitral.
According to reports, major clashes took place in Kamdesh district of Nuristan and Nari district of Kunar after Taliban forces allegedly attempted to seize positions held by the AFF.
Taliban forces used ground troops and several drones to attack AFF positions. They said the resistance fighters repelled the assault and launched counterattacks in both districts.
The report said armed resistance groups carried out at least 10 operations against Taliban positions over the previous week in several parts of Afghanistan, including Kabul, Sar-e Pul, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Kunar, Nuristan, Parwan and Paktia.
According to the reports, the attacks targeted Taliban checkpoints, vehicles and personnel, allegedly killing 17 Taliban members and injuring 10 others. These casualty figures were attributed to resistance-group sources and were not independently verified in the report.
The AFF also claimed responsibility for an attack in Sar-e Pul provincial capital on September 24, saying three Taliban members were killed and two others wounded. It further claimed that a Taliban military vehicle was targeted on the Kabul-Bagram highway on September 23, killing one Taliban member and injuring two others.
Separately, the Afghanistan United Front, led by former Afghan army general Sami Sadat, has reportedly continued operations against Taliban forces in several provinces. The report said the group carried out attacks in Kandahar, Kabul and Badakhshan during the past week.
According to figures, 39 armed resistance operations have been reported across Afghanistan during September, with more than 69 Taliban personnel allegedly killed and 30 wounded.
