Broghil festival rescheduled to Sept 12-13, says DC

BOONI: The annual Broghil festival has been rescheduled due to Ashura and now it will be held on Sept 12-13.

A press released issued from the office of deputy commissioner Upper Chitral on Tuesday said the decision to forward the festival by five days was taken keeping in view Muharram and Ashura falling on Sept 10.

The Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the district administration had announced to organize the event on Sept 7-9. But due to public outcry over holding of the event a few days before Ashura the event was rescheduled.

It is the third time, the annual festival being held in Upper Chitral’s far-off valley has been rescheduled. Earlier, it was to be organized in August.
