Woman, daughter fined for attacking polio worker

CHITRAL: Model trial magistrate court Judge Nasir Khan fined a woman and her daughter for attacking and injuring a female polio worker.

According to the prosecution, Musharraf Bibi and her daughter Nasima Bibi forced polio worker Shazia Bibi out of their home in Sehen locality of Ayun during an anti-polio drive on March 25.

After dragging her out of the house, the two women pushed the polio worker due to which she fell into a nullah and sustained injuries.

One month after submission of the challan to the court, the judge fined the woman and her daughter Rs110,796.

In case of failure to pay the fine within a month, the two would be prosecuted under the Criminal Procedure Code.

A man in Jinjiret village was sent to jail for refusing to get his children vaccinated during an anti-polio campaign in Dec 2018.

during the last about a year, a large number of people were reported to have resisted vaccination of their children during the anti-polio drives. However, most of them were later persuaded by officials concerned.
