Billions of rupees allocated for projects in Chitral: Wazirzada

CHITRAL: Minority MPA and DDAC Chairman Wazirzada on Thursday claimed that the PTI government was spending billions of rupees on the development of Chitral.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly-installed transformer at Jutilasht grid station for Upper Chitral.

The MPA said seven RCC bridges were under constriction across Chitral while the PTI government spent millions of rupees on the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged during floods since 2015.

He also said that the government had approved Rs16.75 billion for the construction of Chitral-booni-Shandur road. Besides, funds were also allocated for the Chitral University and Kalash valley road.

The bifurcation of Chitral into two districts was another feather in the cap of the ruling party, he added.

To promote tourism, roads to Broghil and Garam Chashma are also being built while 600 megawatt power projects are also in the pipeline. He said the KP government during its previous tenure established 56 small powerhouses in Chitral while construction of 81 more powerhouses has been approved.

Speaking on the occasion, PTI Chitral president Abdul Latif said the installation of the seven megawatt transformer was not a mandate of the KP government but keeping the severity of the issue the government arranged it on a priority basis for which Wazirzada’s efforts were highly appreciated.
