Health units should have proper waste disposal system
DROSH: Experts said there was an urgent need to put in place a scientific waste disposal system in healthcare units in order to check spread of different diseases and infections.
The two-day workshop, which concluded on Friday, was arranged by District Health Development Centre in collaboration with PHSA Peshwar.
The speakers said it was the responsibility of the health department to ensure a clean and neat environment so that the citizens could live without being affected by any disease.
They said there was also a need to install incinerators in hospitals and repair all those which were not functioning due to lack of maintenance.
Besides, monitoring of the process to dispose of hazardous hospital waste should be ensured in order to ascertain how and where the waste ended up.
Those who spoke at the workshop included THQ hospital medical superintendent Dr Ziaul Mulk, DR Irshad Ahmed, Ijaz Ahmed and Shakiruddin.
