Consumer court moved against power outages

CHITRAL: After exhausting all forums and even protest demos, the consumer court has been moved against power utility companies for unjustified loadshedding in upper Chitral.

In an application filed on behalf of Abdul Wali Advocate, who is a candidate of the PML-N for the provincial assembly seat (PK-1) of Chitral, advocates Niaz A. Niazi and Sajid Ullah made the chief executive officer of PESCO, secretary power and energy, chairman WAPDA and the resident engineer of the Golen Gol powerhouse as respondents.

The application stated that despite surplus energy in Chitral after the inauguration of the first unit (36 megawatts) of the 108 MW Golen Gol power station, the district, especially upper Chitral, was undergoing prolonged outages.

Mr Aqil Ajiz, the judge of the consumer court, issued notices to the respondents and directed them to appear in the court on June 25. –Bashir Hussain Azad
