PPP fails to persuade independent to withdraw from polls

CHITRAL: PPP Chitral organized an Eid Milan (gathering) at the governor cottage in Garam Chashma on Monday which observers said was the formal launch of the party’s election campaign.

Party’s candidates for NA-1 and PK-1, Salim Khan and Ghulam Muhammad were present on the occasion along with over 1,000 supporters and workers specially invited to the event.
The PPP candidates and others on the occasion highlighted the services of the party for Garam Chashma and expected the hope that the people of the valley would once again vote for the two candidates of the party.

Sources told ChitralToday that the district chapter of the PPP sent a delegation to Shahzada Taimur Khisro to withdraw his nomination papers. Shahzada Taimur has filed his nomination papers for NA-1 after he was denied ticket by the high command of the party.

The sources said Shahzada Taimur refused to withdraw from the race. It is learnt that due to his social works, Shahzada Taimur has a sizable vote bank in Garam Chashma and other areas of lower Chitral. –Photo by S. Nazir Hussain Shah
