Talking to ChitralToday, Tehreek Huqooq-i-Awam leader Shuja Uddin Lal expressed regret that the festival organizers did not even bother to respect the sanctity of the month during which Muslims around the world stop all functions even wedding ceremonies to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the nephew of Prophet Muhammad, and his companions at Karbala. He said these festivals are surely being held after taking no-objection certificate (NOC) from the district administration. He said while issuing the NOC the AC Mastuj at Booni did not bother to ask the organizers to conclude the festival before the 1st of Muharram. He said the festival started about four to five days ago and was scheduled to continue for a couple of more days while the Ashura approaches. He ask the local administration and the organizers to immediately stop the festival in respect of the mourning month otherwise the people of the area would be compelled to intervene and get the event closed.
