Student buried under avalanche; DC urged to provide excavator to retrieve body
CHITRAL, April 24: A young student was buried under an avalanche in the Sonoghur village of upper Chitral on Thursday, residents and rescue officials told ChitralToday on phone from the area.
The victim was identified as Akhtar Hussain, son of Sardar Hussain of Sonoghur, of the village. Reports said Akhtar had gone to the hillside at Tau area and was drinking water sitting on the top of a water tank when the avalanche hit him.
Rescue officials from the Focus Humanitarian Organization reached the spot and tried to retrieve the body but ended the operation. They said that the avalanche was huge and they had no equipment to retrieve the body. They said that an excavator was needed to remove the snow and find the body. The people of the area called upon the deputy commissioner (DC) Chitral to sanction the provision of an excavator to retrieve the body.
Talking to our correspondent GH Farooqui on phone from Sonoghur, the father of the deceased, Sardar Hussain and uncle Ali Murad said Akhtar had gone to graze cattle near Syedan Deh when the avalanche buried him.]]>

1- Essa Ali, Essa Wali and entire family of Parwak, Mastuj, Chitral upon the death of their beloved son Essa Zeshan.
2- Sardar Hussain of Sonoghur, Mastuj, Chitral and his entire family upon the sudden and untimely demise of his beloved son Akhtar Hussain.
Very sad news, Govt high ups in Chitral are requested to help the villagers with all the required support to recover the body in the earliest.
On behalf of all citizens of Sonoghur village especially on behalf of the mother of Akhtar I humbly request the Deputy Commissioner Chitral, MNA Chitral and both the MPAs Chitral to provide an excavator machine as the avalanche is very huge and it is not possible for the people of the area to search the dead body with the help of domestic instruments.
