Plan devised to check mother-child deaths in Chitral

CHITRAL, Nov 23: The Fata/KP health programme has devised a strategy to reduce neonatal and maternal deaths and ensure healthcare management with the involvement of the local community in Chitral.
childThis was stated by speakers at a sensitization session held here on Saturday.
District health officer Dr Nazir Ahmed, communication and outreach managers Abdul Dayan and Sadia Inayat Khattak, the district coordinator Dr Fayaz Ali Romi and others spoke on the occasion.
They said to achieve the objectives, the capacity building process of the community members was carried out to involve them in decision making process.
“The FKHP is developing the physical infrastructures of the healthcare facilities and providing them with necessary gadgets and equipment besides rehabilitating buildings of two civil dispensaries and four ambulances of different hospitals,” said a speaker.
“Over 170 quality inspection teams have been formed at community level in this regard, while for effective monitoring and evaluation system the district health monitoring team has also been revitalized,” said DHO Mr Ahmed.
“Under the programme, 246 training sessions were conducted in which as many as 6,633 community members were imparted training on health management,” he maintained. Special repairs would be carried out of the buildings of DHQ hospital, four rural health centres and nine civil dispensaries besides provision of necessary equipments, said Mr Ahmed.–Zahiruddin
