Women get dress designing machines
CHITRAL, Oct 26: Thirty women were provided with sewing, knitting and dress designing machines and other paraphernalia after completion of their six-month course on cottage industry by Skill Development Council (SDC) in collaboration with Lissail Walmahrum here on Saturday. The chief patron of SDC Peshawar and former provincial minister Haji Muhammad Javaid and deputy commissioner Chitral Shoaib Jadoon distributed the kits, cash and certificates among the course participants in a function held here in Chinar Art and Craft Centre. The speakers laid great emphasis on the importance of skill development training to the youth for their self-employment and said that the youth folk of Chitral, specially the female, were in great need of such facilities which will emancipate them both on economic and political spheres. They said that the art and craft of Chitral were in great demand in the national market and proper training facility in this field will open new opportunities to the women folk placing them in a better position to support their families. The manager of the center, Khadija Sardar said that eighty women were enrolled in the centre with the technical support of SDC and financial support of Lissail Walmahrum and the trainees were provided extensive training on knitting, weaving, dress cutting and designing. She said that on successful completion of the course, the trainees are being provided with machines and cash to help them start their own business.–Zahiruddin]]>
