Sufi poet Dul Mama passes away

Tribute to an old Khowar poet

CHITRAL, Oct 6: Abdul Ghani alias Dul Maama of Broze, Chitral, is not an ordinary man. His life has been full of literary work, including Khowar poetry. At the age of around 80, he still participates in literary gatherings with zeal.

Dul Maama and his typical Chitrali Chonjer (catapult) always accompanies him wherever he goes as is shown in this picture taken by S. Nazir Hussain during a Mushaira in Chitral on Sunday night.

ChitralToday pays tributes to Dul Maama for his services to the Khowar language and traditions and wishes him good health and long life.

  1. The great extempore poet. Wordsworth’s definition of poetry (spontaneous overflow of powerful emotions) seemed to be the description of Dul Maama’s very life. May God bestow upon him good health.

  2. A simple but full of intellect. I must say there is no parallel to Dool Baba. Thanks for the page administrator to bring the sweet memories of this great personality into the media.
