Landsliding kills deputy commissioner

MUZAFFARABAD, Feb 28: The deputy commissioner of the Neelum district was killed under a landsliding near here on Thursday morning. Reports said that Deputy Commissioner Raja Munir Saqib was going to his office in Neelum district from Muzaffar abad when he came under the landslide near the district. He was killed on the spot while his driver has been shifted to hospital in a critical condition. It may be noted that during and after rain and snowfall, especially in early spring, landsliding and snow avalanches are very common in the area. As the news of the death of the DC spread in AJK, the state government announced a public holiday to mourn the death. The body of the DC had not been recovered when this report was filed at about 11am.]]>
